Tease in D Minor

David Cook gave us a little tease of some potential new music when he Tweeted/Instagrammed out a picture of a studio mic with the caption “Singing a song in the key of D minor today. The saddest of all keys.”
I believe this is the longest we’ve gone without new studio music from David Cook since Don’t You (Forget About Me) in 2011, followed by This Loud Morning in 2011 also, and then The Last Song I’ll Write For You in 2012, and then Laying Me Low in 2013, Wait For Me in 2014 and then finally Digital Vein in 2015. This of course does not include the lucky ones that received a new bonus track each month for a year following Digital Vein. So Even though I wasn’t expecting new music until about 2017, I secretly hoped we may get a single or tease before hand, and I’ll consider this a tease.
I do hope we get an album at the end of 2017, I guess that would be spoiling us fans a little bit but still. I just kind of hope we don’t get singles for a few years before finally getting an album again, and I think that break had to do with David’s doubt for his love of music and now that he’s said Digital Vein re-confirmed his love for the art, I don’t think we’ll get a big break like that before the next album. I’m also just getting very greedy though and I understand that. But seriously, all the fans are thinking it… weren't we?
In regards to the direction of this album without hearing anything yet, I'm feel like we'll get a similar production quality to the album like the one we got in Digital Vein but with a little more of a raw rock influence like on David Cook in '08 or even Analog Heart in '06. But this is just a big guess, I have nothing to back it up, I just like to speculate.
Let me know what direction you think the new album will take and what you think it'll sound like.
